Open House Mother's Day Out (Church Event)

Location: Ridgedale Baptist Church
Ridgedale Mother’s Day Out is holding an open house on Thursday, August 5 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Children will have the opportunity to bounce on several air bounces, make a craft, and snack while you, the parent, have an opportunity to tour the facility and meet your child’s teacher. No need to register, just come as you are.

Recycle Old Computers for FREE at Goodwill! (Community Event)
Location: Any Goodwill Industries-Knoxville Store or Attended Drop-off Center
Why pay to recycle when you can do it for free? Residents throughout Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s 15 county service delivery area are now able to recycle their computers and computer equipment free of charge. Goodwill Industries and Dell have teamed-up to offer the Reconnect program which will allow consumers to drop off their computers and computer equipment at any Goodwill Industries-Knoxville retail location or attended donation center for recycling. Recycling doesn’t just save the environment- it provides jobs and training. All proceeds from this program benefit Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment.

South Doyle Middle Back-to-School Bash (Community Event)

A back-to-school bash is planned for all upcoming 6th, 7th & 8th graders at South Doyle Middle School on Thursday, August 12 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. Students and their families will enjoy music, inflatables, food and lots of fun! Admission is free and concessions will be available for purchase. Kirabo Concert to Benefit Ugandan Orphans (Fundraiser/Charity)

The Kirabo Foundation will host a concert to benefit Ugandan Orphans Thursday, August 12 at 7 p.m. at the Tennessee Theatre. A silent auction and dessert reception will precede the concert at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Location: The Point Marina, Dandridge, TN
Approximate 2 mile open water swim competition on Douglas Lake, by an individual or relay teams of up to 5 swimmers. This event is sanctioned by USA Triathalon. Minimum age for a swimmer is 14 years old. Recycle Old Computers for FREE at Goodwill! (Community Event)

Why pay to recycle when you can do it for free? Residents throughout Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s 15 county service delivery area are now able to recycle their computers and computer equipment free of charge. Goodwill Industries and Dell have teamed-up to offer the Reconnect program which will allow consumers to drop off their computers and computer equipment at any Goodwill Industries-Knoxville retail location or attended donation center for recycling. Recycling doesn’t just save the environment- it provides jobs and training. All proceeds from this program benefit Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment.

2010 East Tennessee Irish Festival (Festival)

Saturate your senses in the sights, sounds, and tastes of our Celtic heritage at the third annual East Tennessee Irish Festival at the World’s Fair Park on August 21st from 1-10 pm.The festival celebrates Irish culture and includes: traditional Irish music and dancing, pipe and drum band, traditional Irish and festival style food, beer tasting garden, "Wee Folk" area for kids, local entertainers, Irish cultural exhibits, fiddler competition, traditional and contemporary arts, information about local "green" industries, craft demonstrations, tug-of-war bracketed competition, corn-hole (bean bag toss) competition, and much more. Jerry Salley, a Nashville singer-songwriter who has had more than 300 songs recorded in his career, will lead an August 28 workshop sponsored by the Knoxville Songwriters Association. Residents throughout Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s 15 county service delivery area are now able to recycle their computers and computer equipment free of charge. Goodwill Industries and Dell have teamed-up to offer the Reconnect program which will allow consumers to drop off their computers and computer equipment at any Goodwill Industries-Knoxville retail location or attended donation center for recycling. Recycling doesn’t just save the environment- it provides jobs and training. All proceeds from this program benefit Goodwill Industries-Knoxville, Inc.’s vocational training and employment opportunities for individuals with barriers to employment.

Wanted: Teens with disabilities (Help techies adapt toys)
Time: 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM

WANTED: the East Tennessee Technology Access Center is looking for teenagers with disabilities who would like to participate in the development of adapted toys, robots, and possibly even X-Box controllers. They will be working with a group of designers and super-duper techies at ETTAC’s Knoxville office, 4918 N. Broadway for one or two afternoons the week of July 12. Students must be able to communicate with the Electronic-Techies about the toys, trucks, robots, and electronic games they need help playing with. The Well for Single Mom's (Ladies Fellowship)

Location: First Baptist Church Concord
Single Moms -- THE WELL is a once monthly time for Single Moms from our community to gather together to fellowship, make new friends, laugh, relax and hear how wonderful it is to fall in love with Jesus. Kim, a former single mom, presents her testimony, experience and God’s will for our lives through truthful, heartfelt Biblical teaching. We provide dinner for both mom and children and childcare at no cost. Please join us on September 24th at THE WELL. Dinner and childcare for the children begins at 6:00pm. Fountain City Town Hall will meet at on September 13th at 7 PM for its first general meeting since May. Fountain City Town Hall meets at Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 5337 Jacksboro Pike. The guest speaker will be Officer Craig McNew who will speak about properly disposing of prescription drugs. People attending the meeting are more than welcome to bring in their old or unused medications, and Officer McNew will properly dispose of them.

Experience the fitness and fun of All Sports Camp, where campers explore a variety of sports and fitness opportunities that will keep them active and building healthy habits to last a lifetime. Instruction is taught at all skill levels while promoting self-confidence, balance, coordination, and teamwork.All Sports Camp is located at Fort Sanders Health and Fitness Center (FSHFC). Members of FSHFC will pay $130 for the week. Non-members will pay $160 for the week. Discounts are available for families with more than one child enrolled. Camp is held Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (see dates below for registration).
