battle at bristol twitterOfficials from Bristol Motor Speedway expect ESPN to broadcast its popular “College GameDay” show from Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 10.

Tennessee and Virginia Tech will play in the Battle at Bristol that day in front of what’s expected to be the largest crowd in college football history. The game will be played in primetime on ABC with a kickoff time scheduled for 8 p.m.

Ben Trout, the VP of customer service and guest experience at Bristol Motor Speedway, told The Food City Lead Lap on Saturday that ESPN will likely broadcast College GameDay from Bristol that morning.

“We have a pretty good indication, pretty good feeling, that Kirk Herbstreit and his crew will be in town for College GameDay,” Trout said. “We feel like that’s going to happen. We’re still waiting on some official confirmation on that.”

Tennessee last played at a GameDay location on Sept. 15, 2012, when Florida beat the Vols 37-20 in Knoxville. Before that, Tennessee appeared at a GameDay location a total of 17 times from 1995-2006.

This would only be Tennessee’s second GameDay appearance in the last decade, which should continue to add to the buildup of a game that’s had a countdown clock running since Oct. 14, 2013.

“That week is going to be special,” Trout said. “That weekend is going to be incredible.”
