An inmate on death row in Tennessee has died but not by execution.
The Tennessee Department of Correction says 71 year-old James Dellinger died at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville yesterday (Monday) from apparent natural causes.
He was previously sentenced to death in 1996 for first degree murder out of Blount County after being found guilty in the 1992 shotgun slaying of 24 year-old Tommy Griffin.
He was also convicted in 1993 of murdering Griffin’s sister, Connie Branam, whose body was discovered in her burned vehicle.
His exact cause of death is pending official determination by a medical examiner.
