A Firefighter is Treated and a Dog Missing Following an Early Morning House Fire in East Knoxville

A firefighter injured and a dog missing following a house fire in East Knoxville.

Knoxville Fire Department crews called to the intersection of Sunrise and W. Oakhill Avenue this morning and found heavy smoke coming from a home and van. Crews had some difficulty putting that fire out, which took over an hour because the home had been remodeled and a false wall was built.

One firefighter was evaluated and released on the scene for a heat-related issue. KFD Investigators are working to determine a cause. The home did not have a working smoke detector.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
