Knoxville, TN (WOKI) McGhee Tyson Airport announces more new flights, this time adding a second airline to a destination.

Airport officials Wednesday announcing new flights to Philadelphia International Airport with Frontier Airlines.

The flights are slated to start on May 16 and will run three times a week with fares starting at $19, according to Frontier.

“When you have community support and a growing region, airlines take notice,” said Patrick Wilson, president of the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority. “Today’s announcement by Frontier Airlines is a result of our efforts in making the best business case possible for bringing air service to McGhee Tyson Airport. East Tennesseans will only benefit from Frontier’s ultra-low fares to a popular destination.”

Frontier now joins American Airlines with a destination in Philadelphia from Knoxville.

This is the second announcement of new flights out of McGhee Tyson Airport, joining Avelo Airlines which will offer flights to southern Connecticut twice a week.
