Knoxville Police Release More Details in Mechanicsville Shooting

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Knoxville police releasing more details in a shooting Wednesday night near downtown.

Officers responded around 7:00 p.m. to the area of University Avenue and Wallace Street in the Mechanicsville area where witnesses reportedly said that they had seen two groups of people running from the area, adding that they had heard gunfire.

According to KPD officials, one group ran down University Avenue while another ran up Dora Street towards Moses Avenue.

KPD says officers found a white Honda abandoned in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue, which had been reportedly stolen from a home on Kingsmore Drive.

KPD says the suspects are not in custody and haven’t been identified.
