Newport, TN (WOKI) A death investigation is underway after a body is found Monday at an apartment complex in Newport.
Officials with the Newport Police Department say the death occurred at Village East Apartments.
While information is limited at this time, NPD says there is nothing that leads investigators to believe foul play was involved.
The body was taken to the Regional Forensic Center for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
“I hope this eases any concerns by the public concerning the disinformation that has been spread on social media,” Chief Scott Lamb said.
Additional information, including the person’s identity, has not been released.
