Tazewell, TN (WOKI) A Tazewell Police Department officer is recovering after a driver hit his cruiser Monday morning on Highway 25 East.
TPD officials say Officer Harrison Cornett was treated at the scene and at a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the TPD, Cornett and other officers from TPD and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were responding around 9:30 a.m. to a broken down tractor-trailer when “a driver failed to yield and struck Cornett’s cruiser from behind. [The vehicle then] “continued across the other lanes before crashing on the embankment.”
TPD says “Officer Cornett had his emergency lights activated and had been sitting in the lane for approximately 20 minutes.”
The THP is investigating the crash.
