Tourism in Pigeon Forge May Be Slowing

For a fourth year in a row, Pigeon Forge generated $2.4 billion from tourism, but overall there is a sign that tourism may be slowing.

The last quarter of last year saw a 1% decline in visitor spending, resulting in gross revenue being down for the year for the town of 6,000.

At the State of the City address yesterday (Monday), tourism leaders say that’s still a strong number with the competition that has come back after the Covid-19 shutdowns.  They also say the closure of Interstate 40 has lead to some cancellations from visitors.

Pigeon Forge officials also released plans for the coming year with new technology to help firefighters get everyone out of a home in the event of a fire. There’s also ew transit technology to track the city’s trolleys which saw the most people ever riding in 2024.
