The University of Tennessee Moving Forward with Two Campus Parking Projects, Prepares to Demolish One this Fall while Also Adding New Degree Programs

The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees approves moving forward with two campus parking projects.

The first of those garages is a multistory parking garage with 1,200 spaces that will sit on the site of the current G10 parking garage.

The university says beginning this fall, part of the existing garage will be demolished and rebuilt. Because of this, campus parking will be limited, and first-year students are encouraged not to bring a car to campus for the fall semester. However, the parking changes aren’t expected to impact returning students.

The second parking garage that the board approved is a multistory structure that will hold up to 4,000 cars on the southeast side of campus.

The board also approved three new degree programs, one bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees.

Additionally, the board approved the university to enter into a lease agreement for the Cherokee Mills property on Sutherland Avenue for additional educational, operational, research and technology uses.
