Jefferson County Explosion Caused by Propane Leak, Sheriff Says

Jefferson County, TN (WOKI) UPDATE 3/7: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office releasing more information concerning a fire and explosion Thursday at Lake Cove Resort.

Jefferson County EMA officials say a man was injured in the fire which occurred in an RV; he was treated at the scene and airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, then to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Officials with the sheriff’s office report that the explosion was caused by a propane leak.

Dandridge police confirmed the incident happened outside of city limits.

ORIGINAL STORY: A fire and possible explosion in Jefferson County sends a man to the hospital.

Jefferson County EMA Director Brad Phillips says the fire was in a RV at the Lake Cove Resort yesterday (Thursday) and there were reports of an explosion.

A man was treated by Jefferson County EMS and airlifted by Lifestar to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

An investigation is underway and Dandridge police confirmed the incident happened outside of city limits.
