Knoxville Man Dead after Crash on I-40 in Sevierville, Police Say

Sevierville, TN (WOKI) An investigation is underway following a fatal crash on I-40 early Tuesday morning.

Sevierville Police responding to the crash on I-40 east at exit 407 and found a pick-up and a semi tractor trailer hauling rock on the right shoulder.

SPD’s preliminary investigation shows the driver of the semi had parked on the shoulder to rest when the pick-up veered off the eastbound travel lanes and ran into the rear of the parked semi, whose driver was uninjured.

The driver of the pick-up, 28-year-old Charles Cox of Knoxville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Multiple lanes were closed for hours while emergency crews worked the scene.
