Former Cheerleading Gym Employee Charged with Statutory Rape, Court Records Show

Knoxville, TN (WOKI) A former cheerleading gym employee is indicted on charges of statutory rape and statutory rape by an authority figure.

A Knox County Grand Jury returned the indictment against Stone Montana Edwards on February 26.

Court documents allege that Edwards had sexual contact with a child between 13 and 17 years old sometime between June 2023 and September 2023 in Knox County and that he had sexual contact with a child between 15 and 17 between June and August of the same year.

Edwards’ most recent employment was with Diamonds All-Stars Cheerleading and Tumbling; his tenure with the gym ended in September of 2023. Owners say prior to that, “his role was very limited.”

“The safety and well-being of our athletes are and always will be our top priority,” Diamonds Owner Noël Roberts Coley wrote on March 7. “At no point during his time at Diamonds All-Stars were we aware of any allegations or actions of this nature. Had we known, we would have taken immediate and decisive action… Our hearts go out to the victims of these horrific incidents.”

Coley added than when Diamonds staff learned of the charges, they immediately reported the person to U.S. All Star Federation. They also said they would fully cooperate with inquiries from appropriate authorities.

Coley is listed as a witness on court records.
