U.S. Forest Service officials with the Cherokee National Forest say the Bear Fire received rain Saturday night which will aid in fire suppression efforts.
The fire is burning in the Hall Top area of Cocke County and is currently estimated to be 225 acres and is 0% contained. Crews are evaluating the impact from rainfall and Fire officials are optimistic of seeing an increase in containment levels.
The fire was reported early Saturday with multiple fire departments from Cocke County responding and was about 15 acres when crews arrived.
Fire officials are asking the public to avoid the area of Forest Service Road #207 until further notice due to an increase in vehicular traffic associate with the wildfire.
