Vols’ SEC Network Takeover Set for July 18

For the third consecutive year, SEC Network is turning over its control room to the 14 Southeastern Conference schools for a two-week stretch. On Tuesday, July 18, SEC Network programming will be entirely devoted to the Big Orange for 24 hours.

Featured content on that day includes memorable Tennessee football, basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball victories. Descriptions of those games can be found below. Network documentaries focused on Condredge Holloway and Pat Summitt are also scheduled to air.

Also featured is a pair of signing day events. A replay of Tennessee Football’s annual signing day show will air on Tuesday, as well as a replay of UT’s first-ever Declaration Day. Styled similarly to an athletics signing day event, Declaration Day focused on students (not student-athletes) that have chosen to attend the University of Tennessee. The program was filled with inspiring stories and also featured guest appearances by football players Joshua Dobbs, Trey Smith and men’s basketball player Kyle Alexander.

During their respective SEC Network Takeover day, league schools have the opportunity to fill an entire day with classic games, films, ESPN original content and school-produced content. Each school’s appointed date was drafted at random.

In addition to taking over the television network, SEC Network’s social handles will be devoted to the appropriate school each day.

Florida vs. Tennessee (Football)
Trailing 21-0 in the second quarter, the Vols scored 38 unanswered points to claim a 38-28 victory over No. 19/16 Florida at Neyland Stadium. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns, helping UT snap an 11-game losing streak to the Gators. Wideout Jauan Jennings notched three receptions for 111 yards, including an electrifying 67-yard score to give UT a 24-21 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee at Georgia (Football)
On the heels of its memorable victory over Florida, the Vols traveled to Athens and picked up one of the most thrilling wins in their program history. A rollercoaster finish that saw three lead changes over the final three minutes, Tennessee clinched the win behind a 43-yard Hail Mary touchdown from Dobbs to Jennings as time expired.

Kentucky at Tennessee (Volleyball)
Tennessee stunned No. 23 Kentucky at Thompson-Boling Arena, picking up a 3-1 victory in its home finale. Led by eight kills and five blocks from middle hitter Erica Treiber, the Vols’ upset win denied the Wildcats a share of the SEC title.

Kentucky at Tennessee (Men’s Basketball)
Tennessee earned its first win over an AP top-five opponent since 2010 with an 82-80 victory over No. 4 Kentucky at Thompson-Boling Arena. Senior Robert Hubbs III put together one of the best performances of his career, scoring 25 points. Freshman Grant Williams did a little bit of everything in the win, notching 13 points to go along with six assists, six rebounds and four blocks.

Tennessee at South Carolina (Women’s Basketball)
Another Big Orange victory against a top-five foe, the Lady Vols invaded Columbia and emerged with a 76-74 victory over No. 4 South Carolina. Jaime Nared dropped a career-high 27 points and buried a pair of clutch free throws in the final seconds of the fourth quarter to lift UT to the win.

Florida at Tennessee (Softball)
Behind a grand slam from Megan Geer in the bottom of the fifth inning, No. 8 Tennessee rallied to knock of No. 1 Florida at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt (Baseball)
Held without a hit until the seventh inning, the Vols scored nine runs in the eighth and ninth frames to fly past in-state rival Vanderbilt in Nashville. Trailing 3-0 entering the eighth inning, Jeff Moberg’s RBI single and Jordan Rodgers’ grand slam to left field powered the decisive rally.

1999 Fiesta Bowl (Football)
Tennessee won the 1998 national championship, the first for the Vols since 1951, and completed the school’s first-ever 13-0 season with a 23-16 win over No. 2 Florida State. Peerless Price caught four passes for 199 yards, earning Offensive Player of the Game.
