Tennessee Department of Health Confirms Another Pediatric Flu Death

The Tennessee Department of Health confirms a third pediatric flu death.

This news comes in its most recent “Influenza Weekly Report,” for week 8 which looks at February 16th – 22nd.

The “Week 8″ report shows there were just four “open” flu outbreaks across the state, which includes all strains of influenza: Unsubtyped Flu A, Flu A H1N1, Flu A H3, and Flu B.

Tennessee remains in the highest level of activity category, according to the latest report which also looks at “influenza-like illness”.

Those also remain at the highest level reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). ILI is not a confirmed flu case but is categorized through flu-like symptoms, such as a fever, cough, or sore throat.
