Over 31,000 people cast their ballots during early voting in the August 1st, 2024 Knox General, State & Federal Primary and Town of Farragut Municipal Elections.
Just over 2,000 of those votes were absentee votes cast.
If you missed early voting but still want to cast your ballot in the race for U.S. Senate and House races as well as Representatives among others, you can vote on Election Day from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Also, the first day to request an absentee mail ballot for the November 5th Presidential Election is August 7th.
Morristown, TN (WOKI) Police in Morristown are asking for help finding a missing teen who may be with a 21-year-old man.
Investigators are searching for 14-year-old Lurvin-Danelia Galeas Brizuela who was reported missing by her parents on Wednesday. Investigators and family are concerned for her safety; they say she may be accompanied by 21-year-old Esteban Ranganal.
Lurvin-Danelia is described as 5’7″ tall, weighing 130 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black crop top, blue pants, and florescent Crocs.
Ranganal has a distinctive tattoo on his left forearm that appears to include the name and birthdate of the missing girl.
Anyone with information on the missing girl’s whereabouts is asked to call the Morristown Police Department through the dispatch center at 423-585-2701.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava was recognized among the nation’s best college football players entering the 2024 season as one of 80 individuals named to the preseason watch list for the 88th Maxwell Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding college football player in the country.
Iamaleava is the only player on the watch list that is not at least a sophomore in terms of athletic eligibility. The redshirt freshman signal caller is among 15 players from the Southeastern Conference and one of 41 quarterbacks who made the preseason list for the prestigious award. The Long Beach, California, native enters his second season with the program and is poised to be the Vols’ starter in 2024 after serving as the backup quarterback and playing in five games during his true freshman season in 2023.
Iamaleava arrived at Tennessee as the No. 1 prep player in the country according to On3 for the Class of 2023 and capped his debut season in Knoxville by leading the Volunteers to a convincing victory over No. 17 Iowa in the 2024 Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
Thrust into his first-career start, Iamaleava led the Big Orange to a 35-0 shutout victory in which he was named MVP after accounting for 178 yards of total offense and four touchdowns against a stout Hawkeye defense. By doing so, Iamaleava became the first UT true freshman quarterback to win a bowl game since Peyton Manning beat Virginia Tech in the 1994 Gator Bowl.
Manning is the only Tennessee player to win the Maxwell Award, doing so in 1997. Hendon Hooker was a finalist in 2022 while his top target Jalin Hyatt was a semifinalist in that same year.
Iamaleava finished his freshman season completing 28-of-45 passes for 314 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions while adding 71 rushing yards on 20 carries with three scores.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced Nov. 12, 2024, while the three finalists for the Maxwell Award will be unveiled Nov. 26, 2024. The winner of the 88th Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on Dec. 12, 2024. The formal presentation of the Maxwell Award will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
The Maxwell Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses college football’s most prestigious awards. The NCFAA’s 25 awards have honored more than 900 recipients since 1935. This season, 12 NCFAA awards will honor national players of the week each Tuesday.
Sixteen NCFAA members are unveiling preseason watch lists over a two-week period as the association spearheads a coordinated effort to promote each award’s preseason candidates. Following is the remaining 2024 preseason watch list calendar:

Knoxville Police are investigating after a woman is shot at an apartment complex.
Officers responded Inskip Flats in the 4700 block of Romeo Way yesterday (Sunday) morning after a 20-year-old woman had been shot in the lower body, she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect has not been identified but is described to be a thin man, wearing dark clothing and left the scene in an unidentified dark-colored car.
UPDATE (7/29/24): The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency will be standing down and moving to a Level 3 monitoring situation as the waters have receded significantly and will continue to do so overnight. In the morning, folks living or staying in this portion of Sevier County will need to be on the lookout for debris in the roads. In addition, McCarter Hollow Road near Dollywood will remain closed until the washout can be repaired. Crews with the Sevier County Highway Department will be working tomorrow to address these issues. For the latest, check out social media feeds for Sevier County EMA. Original story: 7/27/24 The Sevier County Emergency Management Agency opens the Sevier County Emergency Operations Center Level 2 to assist with massive flash flooding.
Sevier County Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter says there was significant flooding in the McCarter Hollow, Dollywood and Walker Trail areas of Sevier County and many side roads are impassable and some have been washed away.
Sevier County EMA says the following roads are closed as of 9:30 p.m. last night (Sunday)
Dollywood is expected to re-open at noon today after one person is injured during flash flooding closes the park and shuts down a portion of Veterans Boulevard.
Pigeon Forge Police and Fire Departments assisted the park in getting guests to safety and say only one minor injury has been reported during yesterday’s flooding (Sunday).
Dollywood is supporting guests whose vehicles were affected. Dollywood’s Splash Country is not affected and will open at its regularly scheduled time. Park officials will continue to assess conditions and updates will be posted Dollywood’s social media pages as additional information becomes available.
Pigeon Forge Police say the flooding also shut down Veterans Boulevard for a time from McCarter Hollow to Forge Hideaway Road.

Knoxville, TN (UT Sports) July 27, 2024 Vol Network announcer Bob Kesling will be inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame tonight (Saturday) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, Kesling joins an exclusive list of previous honorees with Tennessee Athletics and Vol Radio Network ties.
For more than 25 years, Kesling has served as the “Voice of the Vols” on radio and television. The Tennessee graduate and versatile multimedia host represents Tennessee Athletics in various on- and off-air capacities as Director of Broadcasting. He is a four-time recipient winner of the “Sportscaster of the Year” award for the state of Tennessee. With an association dating back 50 years, he is the longest-serving member in the history of the 75-year-old Vol Network.
Kesling was named lead announcer on the Vol Radio Network in 1999. He is the play-by-play voice for Tennessee football and basketball on the 60-plus stations that make up the Vol Radio Network – one of the largest networks in collegiate sports. Kesling also serves as the host for “Vol Calls”, the weekly coaches call-in radio show and the “Big Orange Hotline” during the football season. He also hosts the “Josh Heupel Show” and “Rick Barnes Show” on the Vol Television Network.
Kesling began his association with the University of Tennessee as a walk-on fullback on the 1972 freshman football team. His broadcasting career began in 1974 as a film editor for the “Bill Battle Show” on the Vol Television Network while he was a student at the University of Tennessee.
Beginning In 1976, Kesling became the spotter for John Ward on Vol Network radio broadcasts. He sat beside the legendary “Voice of the Vols” for 15 seasons in the Vol Network booth spotting and handling pre-game, halftime and post-game interviews.
Kesling also has a long history with the Lady Vol basketball team. He served as the radio play-by-play voice from 1978 through 1999 – calling Pat Summitt’s first six NCAA National Championships.
WIVK Radio in Knoxville named Kesling its sports Director in 1976. In 1980, Kesling was named Sports Director at WBIR-TV in Knoxville and was Channel 10’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. anchor.
During his time at WBIR-TV, Kesling also worked for Jefferson-Pilot Sports on its SEC Television package. He joined the basketball network serving as pre-game host and play-by-play announcer in 1989 and joined the football broadcasts as a sideline reporter and play-by-play announcer in 1992. He remained with WBIR and Jefferson-Pilot Sports until he accepted the Vol Network position in 1999. During his extensive broadcasting career, he has been a longtime member of the SEC Radio Network and also broadcast various sporting events on CBS/Westwood One Radio, FOX Sports, FOX SportSouth and the SEC Network. He also called Knoxville Cherokees hockey, Knoxville Blue Jays baseball and Nashville Sounds baseball.
Active in the community, Kesling serves on the board of directors for Goodwill, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame and was the 2013 United Way Campaign Chairperson. He is also a 2015 inductee into the Greater Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame in 2020. A 1977 Tennessee graduate, Kesling and his wife, Tami, have two daughters, Allison, and Melissa.
The original Vol Network announcer Lindsey Nelson (1948-50) and the legendary “Voice of The Vols” John Ward (1968-98) were members of the inaugural Hall of Fame Class in 2012. In 2013, another Vol Network announcer George Mooney (1952-67) was inducted. Others include UT public address announcer Bobby Denton (1967-2013) and Vol Network basketball analyst Lowell Blanchard (1966-68), both enshrined in 2015 and Mike Keith, a former member of the Vol Network crew and Titans lead announcer in 2020.
Seymour, TN (WOKI) One person is in custody and another is dead following a shooting Thursday in Seymour.
Blount County Sheriff’s Office officials say they are investigating after one person was killed after being shot Thursday night at a house on Maple Road.
A person of interest is in custody at the Blount County Correctional Facility, and charges are pending.
The victim has yet to be identified as deputies are working to identify next of kin.
The investigation is ongoing.
