Knoxville, TN (WOKI) Knoxville police releasing more details in a shooting Wednesday night near downtown.
Officers responded around 7:00 p.m. to the area of University Avenue and Wallace Street in the Mechanicsville area where witnesses reportedly said that they had seen two groups of people running from the area, adding that they had heard gunfire.
According to KPD officials, one group ran down University Avenue while another ran up Dora Street towards Moses Avenue.
KPD says officers found a white Honda abandoned in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue, which had been reportedly stolen from a home on Kingsmore Drive.
KPD says the suspects are not in custody and haven’t been identified.

The group is made up of Jake Miller, Taylor Gray, the Hartland Hotel Group and Johnson Architecture and is being led by Dixon Greenwood.

The plan includes a nearly 175,000 square foot entertainment district to be managed by the team, which has experience with other similar endeavors with the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and more.
Also on the list is an updated G10 parking garage (the entertainment district is slated for the top of G10) and a “condotel,” which is a hotel that’ll include a rooftop restaurant and bar.

The hotel is planned to have around 240 rooms and 60 condos.
Going forward, the plan heads to the State Building Commission for approval.

Rural Metro started in 1977 and has served Knox County and Farragut since then. The agency is expected to host a “meet and greet” with Devlin on July 29 at the Farragut Community Center (239 Jamestowne Blvd.) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The University of Tennessee announced today the next big step in the process of transforming the waterfront at Neyland Stadium by issuing its notice of intent to award the Neyland Entertainment District project to the 865 Neyland Project Team, a group consisting of experts in real estate development and sports entertainment, led by Dixon Greenwood, along with Jake Miller, Taylor Gray, the Hartland Hotel Group, and Johnson Architecture.
As Tennessee Athletics continues to aggressively pursue its mission of leading the way in college sports, University of Tennessee Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Danny White worked with other UT Knoxville leaders and the UT System to initiate a request for proposals. The notice of intent follows a thorough review of submissions to attract private developers for a public-private partnership to develop a first-in-class entertainment district spanning the Tennessee River north waterfront near historic Neyland Stadium.

Pending Tennessee State Building Commission approval to proceed with further planning development of the district, the current scheme highlights the project team’s conceptual design. Once the State Building Commission approves, the creation of specific designs and construction schedules can begin.
Anchored by a planned condotel adjacent to the stadium’s south end, the mixed-use Neyland Entertainment District would enhance our student experience and Tennessee Athletics gameday atmosphere. It would also transform the riverfront and connect and supplement Knoxville’s gathering spaces and multimodal infrastructure with another attractive leisure and entertainment hub.
Some components of the proposed development include:
Entertainment District: Nearly 175K Square Feet. Managed by the 865 Neyland team, which has experience with a multitude of retail and sports entertainment districts across the country, including the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, among others.
Parking: Full replacement of G10; additional parking will be added to support the entertainment district and condotel needs (specifically not reducing student parking stalls). The university would identify alternative parking solutions for use if G10 is temporarily offline.
Condotel: Full-service Hotel, Rooftop Restaurant & Bar, Pool & Terrace, Conference Center, Lounges, Fitness Center, Hotel Spa—Hartland Hotel Group will help guide this aspect of the project. The group developed the Hotel Figueroa, located next to LA Live, among others.
The condotel would feature approximately 240 rooms and 60 luxury condos.
One of the unique elements of the Neyland Entertainment District is its connectivity and proximity to two of Tennessee’s iconic venues: Neyland Stadium and Food City Center. The proposed Neyland Entertainment District location allows the two facilities to be serviced and tied together.
The centerpiece of this grand vision, Neyland Stadium, is one of the most iconic venues in global sport. It is the eighth-largest stadium in the world—sixth among venues in its category—with a capacity of 101,915.

Original story: An Endangered Child Alert has been issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigationon behalf of the Kingsport Police Department for 11-month-old Dreama Powell.
Dreama Powell was last seen with her mother, Taylor Powell and a warrant has been issued for Taylor, charging her with Custodial Interference. 11-month-old Dreama Powell was last seen earlier this month and is believed to be with a family member. She is 2’2″ tall, 15 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Greeneville, TN (WOKI) A jury has been seated and opening arguments have been delivered in the first federal trial for accused child rapist, 52-year-old Sean Williams.
The former Johnson City businessman, linked to scores of suspected sexual assaults, is on trial in Greeneville for charges related to his attempted escapes from custody, the most recent of which occurred in October when he escaped from a prisoner transport van and was eventually captured in Florida in November.
Williams is representing himself after multiple attorneys left his case.
He rejected a plea deal Tuesday which would have dropped the charge from an alleged escape in July in exchange for his pleading guilty to the alleged incident in October.
Rutledge, TN (WOKI) A lineman with Appalachian Electric Cooperative who died on the job Tuesday morning has been identified.
AEC officials say crews were working in Grainger County around 9:20 a.m. when “an electrical contact occurred on the site.” The person involved, identified as Nathan Potter, was taken to the hospital but died.
In a statement given Wednesday, AEC representatives said Potter was a valuable part of the team.
“Nathan worked as a lineman here for over 6 years and served our membership with dedication each day,” AEC said. “Not only was he a valued part of the AEC Family, he was also so much more – a husband, son, brother, and father to three young children. We continue to pray for his family during this extremely difficult time.”
AEC is taking donations for the Potter family at their office.
Potter’s death is being investigated by AEC, the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration (TOSHA), OSHA and other agencies.

Alcoa, TN (WOKI) The Alcoa Police has arrested seven people and two human trafficking victims are identified in a prostitution sting.
APD says during a prostitution sting operation on Friday and Saturday, there were nine people “engaging in prostitution.” They did not want to identify those charged or what charges they are facing due to the nature of those arrests.
“We do these operations to drive home the message that prostitution and human trafficking will not be tolerated. We want our community to be safe,” Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell said. “And for those individuals that choose to engage in this activity in the City of Alcoa, let this sting be a warning that you could be caught in future operations.”
